2020 is a strategic year for the future of international environmental conservation and the definition of the next global framework for biodiversity conservation. The IUCN World Conservation Congress is a unique opportunity to raise the voice of islands, in Marseille (France) in June 2020.
SMILO, the French Coastal Agency (Conservatoire du littoral) and GLISPA are co-organising the World Island Networks, a one-day event dedicated to islands on 17 June 2020 in the Palais Bourse in Marseille. We are glad to invite you to join us on that special day, when all international island networks and stakeholders committed to the protection of islands will gather! We will complete together a global mapping of the stakeholders working on islands sustainable development worldwide; identify current and coming challenges faced by islands; initiate partnerships and common projects to join forces among islands stakeholders.
The World Island Networks will take place during the three-day event ICO Solutions (Island Coast and Ocean) co-organised from 15 to 17 June 2020 by the French Water Management Agency for the Rhone, Mediterranean and Corsica areas, Aix-Marseille-Provence Chamber of Commerce and the French Coastal Agency.
More information coming soon. If you are working for an islands network, firm or organisation committed to the protection of islands, and would like to participate, you can also already send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
